Carlene's biography
Carlene is the elder daughter of Colin and Cathy Chappell, she has one sister, Lorissa. Her father is a well-respected member of the legal
profession and her mother is the owner of a Magazine, ‘Scottish Style’. Carlene grew up in affluent circumstances, she attended a private girl’s
school and studied English and business studies at university. After leaving university, she worked in Dunochart for ‘Diamond Travel, a tour company
run by close friends of her parents. While in this job, she met Clarke Morrison. They married in 2001 in a lavish fairytale wedding.
Carlene discovered that Clarke was interested in nothing but her money, (or her parents’ money) but spent her years of marriage agonising over the
situation, desperately worried and upset that it was some fault of hers that had caused Clarke’s indifferent behaviour.
The situation peaked when Carlene became pregnant, Clarke showed no interest other than a great desire for more money to ‘do up the house’. It
never happened. Clarke abandoned her, emptied their bank account and disappeared for months. A messy divorce and settlement ensued, all the
while Carlene struggled with a new job in an Estate Agency, a new baby and feelings of utter worthlessness, wondering constantly how she could
have let her life get so out of control.
In 2005 she met Gerry through her work at the Estate Agency, and although they got on well together straight away she was too frightened to
pursue the matter in case she was burned again. They continued as friends for a long time finally marrying in 2010.
