Duncan's biography
Born in 1946 to a poor family in Glasgow, Duncan made it his goal from an early age to rise out of poverty and make something of his life. Initially he
worked as a marketing agent for a large fashion company where he met his Italian wife, Angelina Marcovicci. They had a whirlwind romance and
married in 1969 when Angelina was only 17. Returning to Glasgow, Duncan continued to work for marketing companies and large retailers, building a
large portfolio and making a name for himself. He and Angelina were also building a large family! Both hailing from large families themselves, they
had 8 children between 1970 and 1980. In 1975 the family moved to Edinburgh when Duncan became manager of a large retail group. This sparked a
desire to set up his own retail emporium which he did in 1983. Planning permission was granted to build the exclusive retail village in a highland glen
near Dunochart. Naming the outlet ‘Duchan Country Fayre’, Duncan did not see instant success in his venture. Using his marketing skills to promote
the outlet, within a few years the place became a sensation, attracting locals, visitors and tourists. It has been continually extended and added to
since it’s inauguration to cope with the vast amount of customers.
Duncan and Angelina live in a million pound loch side mansion near Dunochart. Duncan enjoys driving and buying new cars. He sometimes plays golf but
wishes he’d never introduced his children to the sport as they’re all much better at it than he is. He also likes sailing his boat on the loch and
pretending to fish, though he’s never caught anything yet.
He enjoys visits from his family even though his grandchildren have far too much energy!
