Gerry's biography
Gerard (known as Gerry) had a troubled early childhood. Born in 1966, only months after his elder brother and grandfather had drowned in a
freak boating accident in a loch near his grandparent’s home in Dunochart.
Gerry lived the majority of his life in London with his parents but spent many a holiday with his grandmother in the small highland town, where
he found he was happiest.
His parents, though well-off, were unable to deal with the grief and tragedy of his brother’s early demise and his father died not long
afterwards, leaving barely a memory to Gerry. His mother took to drink and Gerry was left to fend for himself from an early age.
Being chronically shy, he struggled immensely through primary school and the early high school years. On meeting Kaye and Sian however, his
life turned around and they became more his family than anyone else, other than his grandmother.
Gerry studied architecture at Oxford on leaving school. All through his twenties, he found it difficult to forge relationships, being by nature a
solitary and reserved person. He devoted a lot of time and energy to Colette, Kaye's daughter, and became a father figure to her.
By the late 90s, Gerry had become very well-off, not only by the earnings from his job in London, but as he also inherited his parents London-
house and his grandmother’s large house in Dunochart, both of which he rented out.
In 2005, he followed in Kaye’s footsteps, and returned to Dunochart to live, with plans to build his own house on a plot of land which he
purchased.
He met Carlene in 2006, who he would later marry in 2010. Both had experienced relationship pain in the past and were very cautious, but
Gerry secretly knew as soon as he saw her that she was ‘the one’ and all he had to do was win her! The couple live with Carlene’s daughter,
Katie-Neve, who adores Gerry. Having been ‘adopted’ by two ‘daughters’ in Colette and Katie-Neve, Gerry looks forward to him and Carlene
having their own children some day, to add to the fun!
