Jim's biography
Jim (known to his friends as Jimbo) is the second child of Bruce and Nora Knighton, he was born in 1978 on the family farm in a village near
Dunochart and spent his childhood there with his parents and his older sister, Karen.
A degree in English and media studies spring-boarded Jimbo into a career as a journalist with the Dunochart Advertiser (a rather dull local rag!).
Despite liking to appear otherwise, Jimbo is a home boy who likes a quiet life, and is happy in his drudge job as long as it gives him enough money and
free time to indulge in his passions… playing the trumpet and watching TV (sometimes at the same time, if the subtitles are on!). He comments, ‘yes
I know I’ve got a couch potato belly but that’s because I can’t cook and am rather partial to pot noodles and beer!’
He also has the claim to fame of having played the Last Post at every Remembrance Day service at his local church between the ages of 11 and 17.
He often plays in the orchestra with DEMAND Society and sometimes sings in their shows, though he prefers the security of some brass to hang
onto.
He is uncle to Daniel, Ben and Rachel who all enjoy visiting him and going places with him when he’s not too busy. Jimbo’s relationship with Bethany
has been uncertain, even to himself, for almost as long as he’s known her. Although they have always had a strong attraction and bond to each other,
Bethany prefers to say they are simply ‘friends’. Jimbo has grown tired of this 'arrangement' as time has gone on. The two have often fallen out
over it and also over comments made by Bethany that Jimbo sees as evidence of her snobbery.
