Lexi's biography
Lexi was born in Paisley early in 1971. Her family were not well off and they struggled to make ends meet in her early years. Her younger sister
Denise was born a few years later and she became an instant precious child, while Lexi was relied on to be the practical, sensible one.
Struggling all through her school years with a troublesome home life, borne from her father’s unemployment and a battle with alcohol, Lexi left
home and attended university in Glasgow.
She got a degree in marketing and quickly found a job with a company in the city. Always a grafter, she worked hard but found the increasingly long
hours and the competitiveness hard to stand.
In 1996 her father died of a heart attack and Lexi found herself frequently back home trying to help her mother through bouts of depression and
anorexia. Struggling more and more with work, in 1999 she decided to pack it all in and go back to university. She sat the one year primary teaching
qualification and got a job working in a huge inner city school in 2000. If anything she found this worse than working in the office but at least she
had more holidays to relax in. Her private life however became a mess of failed relationships and heartache.
A turning point came in 2001 when she spent a Christmas with her aunt in the countryside. Soon after she moved and got a job in a village school
nearby which she enjoyed a whole lot more, even though it was something of a culture shock at first.
Here she met the love of her life, Marcus. They married in 2005 and have one daughter, Maisie. Maisie is Lexi’s biggest achievement to date, as
she was initially told she couldn’t have children. Now her life is blessed in a way that she didn’t believe possible,
Always a keen golfer, she still likes to take up a club now and then especially in the mixed four-balls with her husband which they have won on a few
occasions. She has a close relationship with her cousin, Matthew and is often there as his counsellor and encourager.
