Xialin's biography
XiaLin was born in Perth to Chinese parents. She was brought up in the area and although learning Chinese as a child, English is her first language.
Working in her parents’ takeaway the Bamboo Plaice in Dunochart, as a counter assistant, she first met Pearce when she was only 19. She fancied him but she didn’t
think he was that interested. She followed his dating ‘career’ with interest, picking up gossip from her friends and customers. She started getting a reputation for
inappropriate dressing as she tried to attract his attention.
Eventually she was noticed and they started dating. They married in 2003. XiaLin was always somewhat afraid of Pearce’s parents and never sure if they liked her. She
always felt left out in conversions but was never able to think of anything interesting to add to them.
Giving up her work to look after her sons, they moved to a cottage in Culmuckety near Dunochart. XiaLin sometimes helps out in the café there when her sons are at
school but finds childcare a problem.
She is glad that Pearce’s parents help them out a lot but she’s still somewhat overawed in their presence and always thinks they’re judging her on something – usually her
lack of education or her abilities as a mother.
She enjoys going out to parties and bars and is always looking for babysitters so she can do just that.
